About NFP HouseNot For Profit HQ Ltd, trading as NFP House, was established in Gladstone in 2019 as a local one-stop-shop for not-for-profit and community organisations.

Our purpose is to build a resilient, skilled and sustainable not-for-profit and community sector that contributes to the local economy and community wellbeing.

NFP House works directly with community organisations, volunteers, government, industry and funding partners to identify challenges and develop practical solutions. Our work focuses on strengthening governance, organisational capability, sustainability and volunteering across the Gladstone Region.

After seven years of operation, NFP House is entering its next stage at a time when volunteering itself is also changing. The 2025 Queensland Inquiry into Volunteering and the Government’s response recognise the need to rethink how volunteering works, with a greater focus on working together, flexibility and sector sustainability.

NFP House is well placed to lead that transition locally. Our focus is increasingly on building local capability, connecting existing resources, reducing duplication and working with other organisations to determine who is best placed to lead and sustain initiatives into the future.

Why this work matters

This work is about more than volunteering. We are more digitally connected than ever, but loneliness, disconnection and concerns about social cohesion are growing. Volunteering brings people together and creates relationships, a sense of belonging and shared purpose. These connections build trust and strengthen the social fabric of our community. These same networks also build community resilience and become particularly important during disasters and other times of need.

At the same time, AI is changing how we work and may significantly change or reduce some forms of employment. Work gives people purpose, routine, connection and a way to use our skills. Volunteering can help fill some of that gap, giving people a way to stay active, use their skills, contribute and remain connected to their community.

Strong communities are built by people who participate, contribute and feel like they belong.



As our world changes, volunteering has an increasingly significant role to play in reducing isolation, strengthening social cohesion, building community resilience and giving people meaningful ways to contribute.

Position PurposeThe Senior Project Officer is responsible for coordinating and delivering projects that strengthen the capability and sustainability of community organisations and volunteering across the Gladstone Region.

A major focus of the role over the initial 12 months will be leading NFP House's Connected Volunteering Gladstone project, supporting a whole-of-community transition to the changing way people volunteer.

The role will work across community, government, industry and the volunteering sector to create better pathways for Passionate, Flexible and Specialist Volunteers, while strengthening collaboration, reducing duplication and supporting the transition of successful initiatives to organisations best placed to sustain them long term.

The role is broader than the Connected Volunteering project and will also contribute to the day-to-day work and other funded projects of NFP House. This includes Organisational Health Checks, capacity building, volunteer engagement and matching, stakeholder engagement, workshops, project delivery, reporting and other activities required to support NFP House's purpose.

Key Responsibilities

Connected Volunteering Gladstone

- Lead delivery of the 12-month Connected Volunteering Gladstone project in accordance with the approved project plan, budget and funding agreement.
- Coordinate and support the Regional Volunteer Advisory Group.
- Work with community, government, industry and volunteering stakeholders to understand existing programs, resources, gaps and duplication.
- Develop and test pathways for Passionate, Flexible and Specialist Volunteers.
- Identify opportunities to better integrate existing volunteering services and resources.




- Work with partner organisations to scope and support the transition of initiatives where another organisation is better placed to lead and sustain them.
- Progress targeted opportunities including workplace volunteering, youth volunteering and pathways for marginalised and multicultural communities.
- Better connect State-level volunteering resources, training and expertise with local organisations.
- Explore future options for NFP House's Volunteer Portal, Organisational Health Check and other volunteering initiatives.
- Monitor outcomes, collect evidence and document what is learned.

Broader NFP House Responsibilities

- Coordinate and deliver other NFP House funded projects in accordance with project plans, budgets and contractual requirements.
- Conduct Organisational Health Checks and support organisations to address governance, strategic and operational improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate workshops, training, mentoring, strategic planning and other capacity-building activities.
- Support the Volunteer Portal, volunteer recruitment, profiling and matching.
- Represent NFP House at meetings, workshops, networking events and community activities.
- Maintain accurate project records and contribute to evaluation, reporting and continuous improvement.
- Undertake other duties consistent with the position as required.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience in organisational management, governance, project delivery, community development or a related area.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the not-for-profit, community and/or volunteering sectors.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders and organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across community, government, industry and other sectors.
- Ability to identify opportunities for collaboration, service integration, transition and reduced duplication.
- Experience in volunteer management, engagement, recruitment or volunteer systems.
- Experience delivering organisational capacity-building activities, including workshops, mentoring, strategic planning or governance support.
- Highly developed written communication, project planning and report writing skills.
- Strong organisational skills
- Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and ability to turn ideas into practical actions.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for delivering agreed project outcomes.
- Current C Class Driver Licence.
