About the role

We're looking for an experienced publicist who knows how to find the story inside a complex issue, move fast when the news cycle creates an opportunity, and land media coverage that matters. You'll work across a broad mix of clients, leaders, experts and issues, helping them shape the conversations that matter in business, society and everyday life.

What you'll do

- Translate complex client issues, policy debates and sector challenges into mainstream, business and specialist media opportunities
- Lead pitching and day-to-day media relations across your client accounts
- Own your accounts end-to-end, including scope, timelines and budgets, while acting as strategic advisor to your clients
- Position clients' leaders and experts as credible thought leaders in key business and trade media




- Connect specialist expertise to wider business, social and consumer conversations
- Source and pitch case studies that strengthen a story
- Write sharp pitches, newsjacking comments and media commentary (with in-house writing support for longer-form content)
- Build and maintain strong journalist relationships
- Track client happiness and media coverage KPIs
- Prioritise and problem-solve independently across multiple accounts, escalating when needed
- Collaborate with the wider Pure team to keep campaigns moving

About you

- Must be based in Australia
- Minimum 8 years' PR/communications experience, including agency experience
- A proactive, fast-moving operator who drives results without being chased
- Excellent media instincts and strong newsjacking capability
- A strong track record securing quality earned coverage across mainstream, business and specialist media (e.g. health)
- The ability to make complex or sector-specific subject matter accessible and interesting
- Solid journalist relationships, and the confidence to build new ones
- Excellent account management and strong commercial/client judgement
- Calm, organised, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent accounts under pressure
- Comfortable with remote tools like Asana, Google Drive, Slack and Zoom (or quick to pick them up)

Contract details

Full-time, five days a week. Target start is mid-September; exact contract length and notice provisions confirmed as part of the offer.
