12-Month Contract | Brisbane | 50/50 WFH
We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our client's team and lead a major VMware migration project. This is your prospect to lead a large-scale migration and provide ongoing maintenance and improvement of the project.
- 12-Month Initial Contract with possibility of extension
- Based in Brisbane with 50% WFH
- Proficient VMware experience is required
About this position: As the Senior Systems Administrator, you will lead the migration of approximately 400 virtual machine from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V, while providing ongoing administration, troubleshooting, and technical leadership across enterprise server and backup platforms.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end migration of a large virtual machine estate from VMware to Hyper-V, covering planning, testing, rollback contingency, execution, and post-migration checks.
- Coordinate migration timing and impacts with stakeholders, application owners, and technical teams, reporting progress and risks to senior leadership.
- Administer and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments and related support tools across on-premises and cloud platforms.
- Manage virtualisation and backup platforms, ensuring availability, security, recovery, and capacity needs are met.
- Investigate and resolve complex, high-level infrastructure issues spanning performance, security, and virtualisation.
- Handle incident, change, and release activities through the organisation's service management platform.
- Manage vendor relationships and escalations through to resolution.
- Provide technical guidance on virtualisation, cloud infrastructure, disaster recovery, and backup strategy.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of operational standards and service delivery practices.
- Mentor team members and share technical expertise across projects and operational teams.
