Start Your Career in CONSTRUCTION!
Join our next intake of trainees for the Skill Up 4 Conservation program. We are offering a 20-week full-time paid traineeship as your pathway to a career within the building and construction industry. This program is funded by the Queensland Government SKILLING QUEENSLANDERS FOR WORK (SQW) and offers tailored assistance to help you gain nationally recognised skills and vocational qualifications.
GET PAID to earn while you learn! This program prepares you to transition straight into a trade apprenticeship, with exposure to Wet Trades including Painting, Tiling, Plastering, and Rendering. Work at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Garima Conservation Reserve to participate in real-world community construction projects.
What's on Offer
- On-the-job training on real-world projects, saving our native habitats while building your construction skills
- Study Certificate I in Construction combined with classroom theory at our Surfers Paradise facility
- Gain qualifications in First Aid and CPR, Construction White Card, and Working at Heights
- This program includes wrap-around support including PPE, life skills, resume writing, and interview prep
- Attend Industry Employer Connect events, work experience placements, and apprenticeship matching
- All safety equipment and uniform provided
Eligibility Criteria To meet Government Funding Requirements,
you must:
- Be a Queensland resident eligible for Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) funding
- Be unemployed, underemployed, or facing barriers to sustainable employment
- Be an Australian or Recent Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or holder of an eligible visa
- Be aged 16 years+ and no longer at school
- Hold a minimum of a current Learner's Licence
- Have reliable transport to access work sites (note: no public transport is available to Garima Conservation Reserve)
- NOT previously have completed a Certificate I in Construction
- Be motivated and ready to commit to full attendance of the 20-week course and traineeship completion
First Nations people, young people, women interested in entering the construction industry, Workforce Australia clients and Transition to Work participants are especially encouraged to apply.
