About the role

Club21 is a community and online social program for adults with Down syndrome. The Club21 Facilitator plays an important role in creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment where participants are supported to have choice and control, connect with peers, contribute their ideas, and participate in activities within the community and online. The facilitator supports the delivery of these activities in line with DSV policies, participant safeguarding requirements and the values of inclusion, respect and community connection.

Key responsibilities

- Assist adults with Down syndrome to develop skills that will enhance their capacity for self-determination and independence
- Create opportunities for adults with Down syndrome to extend their networks, voice their opinions and enhance their social skills, confidence, and leadership skills
- Ensure delivery of all activities comply with DSV policy and procedures and NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators to maximise participant safety and enjoyment
- Assist program manager to create a schedule of exciting and relevant activities for Club21 groups, considering participant preferences and suggestions
- Assist program manager to coordinate logistics for activities, including engagement of guest leaders, promotion, registration, venues and bookings, allocation of leaders and volunteers, providing billing information for accounts, data collection and reporting
- Build relationships with local businesses
- Complete administrative tasks associated with the role, including the timely completion of activity and participant notes




- Support volunteers engaged in Club21 activities, ensuring that they have a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities during the activity
- Lead and facilitate the monthly Club21 Choir activity, supporting participants to develop their skills and confidence and preparing the group for quarterly performances at Club21 events

About you

- Knowledge of disability rights, advocacy and principles for achieving valuable outcomes for people with disability, disability sector, and the NDIS
- Knowledge of community development and peer support principles
- Experience leading inclusive choirs
- Well developed problem-solving and decision making skills
- Planning and organisation skills, with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in particular people with Down syndrome and their families, partner organisations
- Use of Microsoft Office suite
- Experience supporting adults with a disability
- Appropriate, valid First Aid and CPR certification
