The opportunity
Verdex Equipment is looking for a commercially minded Demand Planning & Inventory Analyst to help us make better decisions across forecasting, purchasing, inventory and product performance.
This is not a role that simply produces reports. You will investigate what the data is telling us, identify issues early and turn your findings into practical actions. You will help us reduce stockouts and excess inventory, identify product lines that have dropped away, uncover dead and ageing stock, and improve the performance of clearance items and recent-product launches.
Working across our national distribution network, you will partner with Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance to improve inventory availability and working-capital performance.
What you’ll be responsible for
• Preparing demand forecasts by SKU, product category, warehouse and sales channel.
• Using Netstock and ERP data to recommend purchase quantities, reorder points, safety-stock settings and replenishment timing.
• Monitoring forecast accuracy and adjusting for seasonality, promotions, projects, demand spikes and supplier lead times.
• Identifying fast-moving products at risk of stockout and providing early warnings and recommended actions.
• Identifying dead, ageing, slow-moving and excess inventory, then recommending redistribution, clearance, bundling, supplier return or discontinuation.
• Reviewing stock across our Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne distribution centres and recommending interstate transfers where appropriate.
• Identifying product lines where sales have unexpectedly declined, stopped or fallen below forecast.
• Investigating whether declines relate to stock availability, pricing, website visibility, sales activity, substitution or changing customer demand.
• Auditing stocked products against our website and highlighting items that are missing, inactive, incorrectly categorised or difficult to find.
• Measuring clearance-item performance, including units sold, margin, stock reduction and remaining exposure.
• Tracking new-product performance at 30, 60, 90 and 180 days against the original forecast and launch expectations.
• Building Power BI dashboards and producing clear weekly exception reports and monthly management reporting.
• Turning analysis into prioritised recommendations for Purchasing, Sales, Marketing and management.
Systems experience
• Hands-on experience with Netstock for demand forecasting, inventory optimisation and replenishment planning.
• Experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP system to analyse inventory, sales, purchasing and product data.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data cleansing and large-data analysis.
• Strong Power BI skills, including data modelling, dashboard creation, exception reporting and management-level visualisation.
What you’ll bring
• Previous experience in demand planning, inventory analysis, replenishment, supply-chain analytics or a related position.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance service levels, inventory investment, margin and working capital.
• A curious and investigative mindset—you do not stop at identifying a number; you work out what caused it and what should happen next.
• The ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, ownership and follow-through.
• Confidence working collaboratively across Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance.
Highly regarded
• Experience in wholesale distribution, industrial products, imported goods, warehousing or a multi-site distribution network.
• Knowledge of supplier lead times, container purchasing, landed costs and inventory working-capital impacts.
• Experience analysing e-commerce listings, clearance programs and new-product launches.
• A relevant qualification in supply chain, commerce, analytics, finance, operations or a related discipline.
What success will look like
• More accurate forecasts and fewer avoidable stockouts.
• Reduced dead, ageing and excess inventory..
• Earlier identification of declining product lines and clearer recovery or exit actions.
• Better visibility of products missing or inactive on the website.
• Clear measurement and faster decisions on clearance items and new-product launches.
• Management reporting that leads to decisions, assigned actions and completed follow-up.
