Cancer Council Australia is enhancing its national Cancer Navigation Service to offer more ways for Australians affected by cancer to access trusted information, emotional support and connection to services – now and into the future.

Our vision is straightforward: to connect, inform and empower people impacted by cancer.

About the Team

Building on our well-established Cancer Connect Team, the Cancer Navigation Service acts as a key point of entry, connecting people to tailored support including healthcare professionals, specialist cancer organisations, in-language services, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health services.

About the Role

As a Cancer Council Navigator, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based information and emotional support to people affected by cancer at any point along the cancer continuum.

This is a non-clinical navigation role, operating within approved frameworks and referral pathways.

Key responsibilities:

- provide person-centred emotional support
- screen for distress and supportive care needs
- refer to appropriate internal and external services
- provide trusted cancer information
- escalate risk appropriately
- support equitable access for diverse communities

About You

- relevant qualifications and experience in health, social or community services
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work with diverse communities




- willingness to work within evidence-based frameworks

Recent oncology experience is desirable but not mandatory. Professional registration is not required.
