About the Role
Reporting into the Clinical Coordinator, the Senior Youth Counsellor will deliver evidenced based interventions to young people accessing Youth Focus services. The incumbent will provide supervision, mentoring and guidance to staff and students as required. The Key responsibilities include:
- Provide office-based, outreach, and/or telehealth individual or group interventions to young people and their families
- Support the clinical team in managing the duty responsibilities and tasks in line with organisational processes
- Refer to and maintain a thorough knowledge and network of youth, health, and mental health resources, and when appropriate work in partnership with these networks
- Work collaboratively across internal and external services to ensure an integrated service for the young person
- Participate, lead, and support regular clinical case review and team meetings to ensure appropriate clinical service pathway and service delivery
- Lead and facilitate the delivery of group programs by guiding and mentoring team members to ensure high-quality,
evidence-based group interventions
- With support from the Clinical Coordinator, foster a positive and engaging team culture in alignment with the organisation?s values
About You
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Social Work, Psychology, OT, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling) and current full registration/membership with a skilled body
- Minimum four (4) years' post-graduate experience in Mental Health, with experience working in a tier 2/3 youth mental health environment
- Demonstrated experience conducting detailed psychosocial and suicide risk assessment, with capacity to guide and support staff in effectively managing risk
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including reflective clinical supervision and capability?building for staff and students
- Demonstrated clinical experience working therapeutically with young people with complex presentations and varying needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical governance, including high?quality documentation, compliance with confidentiality and privacy legislation, and adherence to organisational policies and evidence?based practice standards
- Advanced knowledge in clinical formulation, collaborative care planning,
and coordinating care for young people with complex psychosocial and mental health needs.
- 'C' Class driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
