Are you a senior lawyer who can see how legal work can be delivered better and have the judgement, influence and project capability to make that change stick?

We are partnering with a large and sophisticated in-house legal practice in Brisbane CBD to recruit a Senior Practice Improvement Lawyer. Combining legal expertise with project and change leadership, this role will deliver improvements across legal processes, systems, capability and service delivery.

This is not an advisory-only role or the rollout of an established program. Instead, you will build the improvement agenda from the ground up, working with senior legal leaders, practitioners and specialist teams to identify priorities and embed practical, sustainable change.

- Flexible full-time contract until 30 June 2028
- Total remuneration package up to $205K, inclusive of superannuation and leave loading

FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT THE ROLE
The first few weeks will focus on analysing data, consulting across the practice and identifying priorities before developing a methodical 18-month improvement roadmap.

Your work will include:

- Analysing legal practice, operational and service-delivery data to identify themes, risks and opportunities
- Consulting with senior leaders, lawyers, legal support teams and specialist functions to understand challenges and test assumptions
- Developing an 18-month roadmap covering priorities, governance, milestones, dependencies and performance measures
- Leading complex initiatives from design and planning through to implementation, adoption and evaluation
- Redesigning legal processes, practices,



documentation and workflows to improve consistency, efficiency and quality
- Working across legal, corporate, technology and administrative disciplines to improve systems and identify appropriate applications of legal technology, including AI-enabled tools
- Developing practical guidance, resources and training that build capability and embed new ways of working
- Providing high-level advice, leading stakeholder engagement and applying professional judgement to assess legal, operational and implementation risks across multiple workstreams.

ABOUT YOU
You will be an admitted Australian legal practitioner with a minimum of six years’ post-admission experience. Importantly, you will combine strong legal expertise and professional judgement with demonstrated project and change management capability, including experience leading complex initiatives from diagnosis and planning through to implementation and evaluation.

Your background may include legal practice improvement, knowledge management, legal operations, legal technology, innovation, transformation or strategic projects. Alternatively, you may be a senior in-house, government or private practice lawyer who has led significant capability or service-delivery initiatives alongside your legal practice.

You will be a strategic and practical problem-solver who can influence senior stakeholders, manage competing priorities and translate complex ideas into workable solutions. A genuine interest in continuous improvement, legal innovation and technology will also be important.
