About the role
This newly created People & Culture Advisor role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to step into a broad, people-focused position and truly make it their own. Working within a beautiful independent school environment, you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end HR function while having the opportunity to introduce new systems, processes and initiatives that strengthen the employee experience and build a positive workplace culture.
This is a role for someone who genuinely loves people - someone who enjoys building relationships, engaging with staff and being visible and approachable across the school community. You'll have the autonomy to identify opportunities, introduce ideas and help shape the way People and Culture operates into the future.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end HR function, providing practical and people-focused support across the employee lifecycle
- Manage recruitment and selection processes, including advertising, candidate management, interviews and appointments
- Coordinate comprehensive onboarding, new starter processes and staff inductions
- Develop and implement HR systems, processes, policies and procedures to support the school’s people strategy
- Identify and introduce employee wellbeing initiatives that support staff engagement and connection
- Develop and implement a career development framework to support ongoing learning and capability
- Build strong relationships with staff and leaders,
providing trusted advice and contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace culture
Skills, Experience and Qualities
- Previous experience in a broad HR, People & Culture or HR Advisory role
- Strong knowledge of the employee lifecycle and contemporary HR practices
- A genuine people person who enjoys connecting, communicating and building relationships
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the confidence to identify opportunities and take initiative
- Comfortable working autonomously and creating structure, systems and processes from the ground up
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm, positive and approachable manner
- A values-driven professional who believes people matter and is passionate about creating a positive workplace culture
