Smile IT is searching for an experienced and motivated Accountant to join our Finance team in our Tingalpa office.
The ideal candidate would be someone who prefers to work during school hours and is looking for a balanced position that keeps them actively involved and growing within their career.
Please note this is a part time role (30 hours per week from 9:00am to 3:00pm).
About the Role:
As an Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial recording, reporting, and analysis to support the company’s operational & strategic decision-making.
You will support in the management of core accounting functions including billing, revenue recognition, expense management, procurement reconciliation and month-end close.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately capture financial data and generate underlying financial records.
- Generate recurring and ad‑hoc revenue invoices, ensuring alignment with Service Agreements.
- Process and schedule supplier billing.
- Identify and proactively resolve data anomalies or inconsistencies.
- Reconcile bank accounts and assist with month end and year end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial accounts, BAS, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain and contribute to improving finance processes, documentation and reporting.
- Support finance system integrations with PSA billing, and service management platforms (e.g. Xero, ConnectWise, Halo, SaaS Boss, OneBill).
- Assist with automation and efficiency initiatives across finance processes.
- Support financial end of year compliance by preparing schedules & responding to queries,
ensuring adherence with tax regulations, payroll obligations, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls.
- Work with cross-functioning with various departments to validate billing, track costs, and maintain accurate system data.
Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree, CPA, Certificate IV or relevant (or working towards) tertiary course.
- Familiarity with Australian tax law and accounting regulations.
- Demonstrate high level of proficiency in recognised accounting software (e.g. Xero, HaloPSA).
- Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate, working with cross-functions teams.
