About the Opportunity

At John Paul College, events are more than dates in a diary, they are the moments that connect, celebrate and inspire our community. From the elegance of our Gala Dinner and the atmosphere of Jazz on the Lawns with James Morrison, to milestone College ceremonies, sporting carnivals and community celebrations, our events program touches every part of College life.

We're looking for an experienced and highly capable Events Manager to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of this program. Working closely with the Head of Communications and Engagement and leading our Events Assistant, you will shape the annual events calendar, build strong relationships across the College community, and ensure every event reflects the standard and spirit of John Paul College.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant events portfolio at one of Queensland's leading independent schools, and to lead a small team in delivering experiences that matter to thousands of students, families, staff and alumni.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity at the heart of College life, providing operational leadership across the College's events calendar and working collaboratively with key departments and stakeholders to deliver a professional, well-coordinated events program.

Key Responsibilities:

- Leading the end-to-end planning, management and delivery of major internal and external College events.

- Developing and maintaining the annual College events plan and events calendar in consultation with key stakeholders.

- Developing detailed event plans, schedules, run sheets and operational requirements, including venue, AV, staging, catering, security and registrations.

- Acting as the key liaison for Parents of JPC events, supporting forward planning and building strong volunteer relationships.

- Managing event budgets, expenditure and cost recovery, and sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and contractors.

- Leading event risk and compliance requirements, including risk assessments, approvals and emergency arrangements.

- Leading and supporting the Events Assistant,

setting explicit priorities and building a service focused team culture.

- Conducting post event reviews and maintaining event management documentation to support consistency across the College.

About You

You're an experienced events professional who leads with confidence, thrives on detail, and enjoys building relationships across a busy, diverse community. You remain calm under pressure, anticipate issues before they arise, and take pride in delivering events that reflect the values and standard of the organisation you represent.

You'll bring:

- Significant experience in event and project management, including delivering complex, multi-stakeholder events.

- Tertiary qualifications in Events Management or Project Management, or equivalent industry experience.

- Experience leading or supporting a team, with the ability to coach and build a service focused culture.

- Strong financial and commercial capability, including budget management and supplier negotiation.

- Highly developed stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across the College community.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence adopting new systems and technology.

- A current First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement.

- A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check), or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.

- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends during term.
