As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Room Leader – Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) to join our team at our MindChamps service in Shellharbour.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ECT who is looking to combine their teaching expertise, curriculum leadership, and team leadership skills in a high-quality early learning environment.

Your Role as a Room Leader – ECT
As the Room Leader – ECT at MindChamps, you will take a leading role in the day-to-day operation, educational program, and professional practice within our Preschool Room.
You will bring your experience as an Early Childhood Teacher to lead curriculum decision-making, support the development of your team, and create an engaging, intentional, and inclusive learning environment that prepares children for their next stage of learning.
You will be a key educational leader within the room, working collaboratively with the Centre Director and leadership team to maintain high standards of teaching, learning, care, safety, wellbeing, and compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the Preschool Room and providing strong day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to your team.
- Designing and implementing a high-quality preschool program that reflects the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and contemporary early childhood pedagogy.
- Using your ECT expertise to develop intentional, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences that extend children’s knowledge, skills, confidence, independence, and love of learning.
- Leading curriculum planning, observations, learning documentation, assessment, and critical reflection practices.
- Using children’s interests, strengths, abilities, and individual learning needs to inform curriculum decisions.
- Creating a learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, problem-solving, creativity, communication, and a genuine love of learning.
- Building strong foundations for children’s transition to school and supporting their confidence, independence, resilience, and readiness for the next stage of their learning journey.
- Mentoring, guiding, and developing educators within the room,
strengthening their confidence, knowledge, and professional practice.
- Leading by example and modelling high-quality interactions, intentional teaching, professional communication, and positive behaviour guidance.
- Building strong and respectful relationships with children, families, educators, colleagues, and the wider community.
- Maintaining a strong focus on children’s safety, wellbeing, inclusion, development, and individual needs.
- Ensuring the room operates in accordance with the National Quality Framework, National Regulations, National Quality Standards, and relevant legislation.
- Contributing to the service’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and ongoing continuous improvement.
- Working collaboratively with the Centre Director and leadership team to support a positive, professional, and high-quality learning environment.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and qualified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) who is ready to take a leading role within our Preschool Room.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced ECT who has a strong understanding of preschool-aged children’s learning and development, is confident leading a room team, and is passionate about delivering a high-quality educational program.
You will have:
- A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or an ACECQA-recognised equivalent ECT qualification.
- Demonstrated experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher, preferably within a preschool or long day care environment.
- Previous experience as a Room Leader, Lead Educator, or in a similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and contemporary early childhood practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading a Preschool Room and developing and implementing high-quality educational programs.
- Strong understanding of intentional teaching, assessment, documentation, critical reflection, and curriculum planning.
- Experience supporting children’s school readiness, independence, confidence, and transition to school.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and support educators to strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and professional practice.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, educators, and colleagues.
- Experience contributing to quality improvement and continuous improvement practices.
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certificates.
- Current child protection training, including mandatory reporting requirements.
- Willingness to undergo a Police Check.
- A flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused approach.
