We are seeking an experienced Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Officer / Advisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day WHS function across our aged care and retirement living operations.

About the Role

This is a part-time position working approximately 4 days per month, primarily onsite at our Willoughby location.

The successful candidate will take ownership of WHS matters across both HyeCare Aged Care and Hyegrove Retirement Living, working closely with management and employees to ensure our workplace health and safety systems, practices and documentation remain compliant, practical and effective.

You will be responsible for managing ongoing WHS requirements, completing workplace inspections and audits, maintaining WHS documentation, supporting incident investigations, reviewing risks and providing practical WHS advice to management.

This role would suit an experienced WHS professional looking for a regular part-time position with responsibility for the overall WHS function across an aged care and retirement living environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

- Managing the ongoing WHS function across HyeCare and Hyegrove.

- Maintaining and reviewing the organisation's WHS framework, policies, procedures and systems.

- Conducting regular workplace inspections, WHS audits and risk assessments.

- Identifying workplace hazards and ensuring appropriate risk-control measures are implemented.

- Monitoring compliance with relevant NSW WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

- Maintaining WHS registers, records, action plans and compliance documentation.

- Providing practical WHS advice and guidance to managers and employees.





- Managing and following up WHS corrective actions and identified compliance gaps.

- Reviewing workplace incidents, hazards and near misses and assisting with investigations.

- Monitoring incident trends and recommending preventative actions.

- Supporting injury management, workers compensation and return-to-work processes.

- Reviewing and maintaining emergency preparedness, evacuation and disaster-management procedures.

- Supporting the identification, assessment and management of psychosocial hazards and workplace wellbeing risks.

- Supporting WHS consultation with employees and management.

- Coordinating and supporting WHS training and safety awareness activities.

- Preparing WHS reports and updates for management.

- Supporting WHS committee meetings and following up agreed actions where required.

- Monitoring contractor WHS compliance where applicable.

- Supporting continuous improvement of the organisation's overall workplace safety culture.

About You

We are looking for an experienced WHS professional who is comfortable independently managing WHS responsibilities across an operational aged care and retirement living environment.

You will have:

- Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.

- Previous WHS experience within residential aged care and/or retirement village operations is essential.

- Demonstrated experience managing day-to-day WHS responsibilities.

- Robust knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, risk management and hazard identification.

- Experience conducting WHS audits, workplace inspections and risk assessments.

- Experience developing, reviewing and maintaining WHS policies, procedures and management systems.

- Experience with incident investigation and corrective-action management.





- Experience with injury management, workers compensation and return-to-work processes.

- Experience identifying and managing psychosocial hazards and risks.

- Strong organisational and documentation skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

- Ability to work independently and provide practical WHS recommendations to management.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on WHS actions and compliance requirements.

Position Details

- Part-Time Position

- Approximately 4 days per month

- Primarily onsite in Willoughby, NSW

- Responsible for WHS across HyeCare Aged Care and Hyegrove Retirement Living

- Regular and ongoing position

- Additional hours may occasionally be required depending on incidents, audits or operational requirements

- Remuneration will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications

Pre-Employment Requirements
