We're looking for safety-focused, quick-thinking people to join Metro as a Relief Signaller and play a key role in the protected and efficient operation of Melbourne's rail network.
No two days are the same. You'll be at the heart of rail operations, making real-time decisions that help keep trains moving safely, efficiently and on time.

About the role
As a Relief Signaller, you'll play a critical role in the safe movement of rail traffic and protection of works across Metro's network. Using signalling systems and equipment, you'll ensure rail operations are conducted safely and in accordance with established safe working procedures.
Working closely with Train Controllers and operational teams, you'll make real-time decisions, manage rail traffic movements and help keep Melbourne's railway running safely every day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Safely control rail traffic within your designated area.
- Manage rail, vehicle, tram and pedestrian movements at designated level crossings.
- Monitor signalling equipment and rail operations.
- Coordinate with Train Controllers and operational stakeholders to minimise disruptions and keep services running safely and efficiently.
- Respond to operational issues and emergency situations.
- Maintain safe working systems and procedures at all times.
