Medic Emergency Services Officer – Underground Mining
Permanent | 7/7 Roster | Darwin Based - Relocation Support Available
Core Lithium is seeking experienced Medic Emergency Services Officers (MESOs) to support the continued development of underground emergency response capability at the Finniss Lithium Operation in the Northern Territory.
We are looking for people who thrive in high-risk operational environments, bring strong practical emergency response capability, and want to contribute to building a professional long-term emergency response function within the operation.
Core Lithium's long-term workforce strategy is focused on building a reliable residential workforce based in Darwin and the surrounding region.
Relocation support is available for interstate candidates interested in permanently relocating to Darwin.
For the right candidate, short-term FIFO arrangements may be considered initially to support transition and relocation, however the long-term expectation is residential relocation within the first few months of employment.
These are permanent positions working a 7 days on, 7 days off roster consisting of 12-hour shifts, currently focused on day shift operations, however as underground production ramps up in the future, the roles may transition into a rotating day/night roster arrangement.
About the Opportunity
These are hands-on operational leadership roles focused on developing emergency response readiness across a growing underground mining operation.
While medical response remains an important component of the position, the primary focus is building and maintaining a capable, well-trained and operationally ready Emergency Response Team (ERT) and ensuring the site has the systems, equipment, training and rescue capability required to safely support underground mining activities.

Working closely with site leadership, you will help shape emergency response standards, training programs, rescue systems and operational readiness as the underground operation continues to develop.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to emergencies, incidents and medical events across underground and surface operations
Provide first aid, trauma care and casualty management
Support underground rescue, firefighting and technical response activities
Assist in establishing and developing site Emergency Response Team capability
Train, coach and mentor ERT members to build competency and confidence
Support implementation of underground emergency response systems and standards
Assist with the rollout and management of self-rescuer, breathing apparatus and rescue equipment programs
Conduct emergency drills, mock scenarios and competency assessments
Maintain emergency equipment, rescue systems, vehicles and medical facilities in a ready state
Support incident reviews, debriefs and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
You will have previous underground emergency response experience within mining or heavy industry environments, along with the ability to remain calm, practical and decisive during high-pressure situations.
You are practical, disciplined and confident operating in high-risk environments.

You understand what good underground emergency response looks like and can step into incidents calmly and professionally when required.
You are equally comfortable contributing to emergency readiness behind the scenes — maintaining equipment, supporting training activities and helping improve site capability before incidents occur.
Essential
Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (or equivalent)
Certificate IV in Health Care, Pre-Hospital Care or equivalent
Minimum 3 years' underground emergency response, mine rescue, ESO or MESO experience
Demonstrated experience working in underground mining environments
Strong competence in breathing apparatus, mine rescue, firefighting, rope rescue and emergency response activities
Experience training, mentoring or developing Emergency Response Team capability
MR or HR driver's licence
Strong communication, leadership and decision-making skills
Highly Regarded
Experience establishing or significantly developing site Emergency Response Teams
Experience implementing underground emergency response systems and standards
Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus (CCBA) experience
Incident Command and Control experience
Certificate IV Training and Assessment
WHS qualifications
Incident investigation training
Experience working with external emergency services and mutual aid groups
Why Join Core Lithium
The Finniss Lithium Operation is entering an exciting phase as underground mining capability continues to develop and expand.
This is an opportunity to join a site where you can genuinely contribute to shaping emergency response capability, systems and standards as the underground operation evolves.
