Sante Recruitment is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health Services team across Hervey Bay and Maryborough within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service.
This is an excellent opportunity to provide specialist psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient and Hospital-in-the-Home services while contributing to clinical leadership, education and service development.
There is also an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to establish a private practice locally , with support available to assist with rooms, credentialling, administration and the development of referral networks.
The Chance You will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and ongoing care to patients accessing Mental Health Services across Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
The role will include: Providing expert psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient and Hospital-in-the-Home services Working across Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals Providing specialist psychiatric advice and consultation Providing professional leadership within a multidisciplinary mental health environment Working collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health and community teams Supporting high-quality, patient-centred mental health services Providing education, training and supervision to junior medical staff Contributing to the professional development of the broader healthcare team Participating in service improvement, clinical governance and ongoing development of Mental Health Services Private Practice Opportunity One of the key attractions of this position is the potential to develop a private psychiatric practice alongside your public appointment .




The successful candidate may be able to establish private practice with local private hospitals, with assistance potentially available including: Access to sessional consulting rooms Support with establishing local referral pathways Assistance with credentialling Administrative support when establishing your practice Introductions to local GPs, physicians and surgeons Opportunities to develop a sustainable private patient base This provides an attractive opportunity for a Psychiatrist looking to combine public sector clinical work with the longer-term development of a private practice .
Remuneration The Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service offers a highly competitive remuneration package of up to $564,548 per annum , depending on experience, qualifications and applicable allowances.
The package includes: Base salary of approximately $193,191 $282,912 p.a. About You We are interested in hearing from Consultant Psychiatrists who have: Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent Specialist registration with AHPRA , or eligibility to obtain specialist registration Broad contemporary psychiatric experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills A commitment to multidisciplinary patient care An interest in teaching, supervision and service development Internationally trained Psychiatrists who may be eligible for an Australian specialist registration pathway are encouraged to enquire.
