What you will do as the Policy Officer
Support the coordination of strategic priorities, projects and activities across a range of ACCC work areas and consolidate information into clear products for decision-makers.
Support the ACCC's engagement with the Australian Parliament, government departments and ministerial offices, including supporting the ACCC's appearances before Senate Estimates and Parliamentary inquiries.
Prepare executive and Ministerial briefs, correspondence, reports, presentations, meeting papers and other executive materials.
Undertake research and analysis to identify issues, risks and emerging opportunities relevant to the ACCC.
Identify opportunities to improve coordination,



processes and ways of working.
Contribute to a positive, cooperative and outcomes-focused team environment.
About You
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
Knowledge of parliamentary and cabinet processes, or the ability to quickly gain this knowledge.
Ability to demonstrate interest in the ACCC's role, current competition and consumer law issues and public policy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, negotiate and work collaboratively with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, plan and manage your work and seek guidance when required.
The ability to communicate complex issues simply, clearly and effectively in different mediums.
Decision making using sound judgement, expertise and knowledge in line with agreed procedures.
As an APS 4, you will work under general direction, coordinate defined activities and use established processes and sound judgement to deliver quality outcomes. You will contribute to planning and expedite complex or sensitive issues when needed.
As an APS 5, you will work more independently, manage complex matters and provide advice within your area of responsibility. You will analyse competing priorities, develop recommendations for executives and expedite issues when needed.

Salary
APS4 $83,383 - $90,535 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
APS5 $93,004 - $98,617 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
