About the role
The Community Amenity and ComplianceDepartment plays a critical role in maintaining a secure, accessible andwell-managed municipality through the delivery of a broad range of regulatory,compliance and community safety services. An exciting opportunity has becomeavailable for an experienced and strategic Manager Community Amenity &Compliance; following a vacancy within the team.
Reporting to the Executive Director CityFutures, this senior leadership role is responsible for leading a diverseportfolio of services including Parking Compliance, Local Laws, AnimalManagement, School Crossings and Prosecutions. The role provides strategicdirection, leadership and oversight to ensure the consistent delivery ofcustomer-focused regulatory services that align with Council's vision,legislative obligations and community expectations.
As a key member of the City Futuresleadership team, you will drive service excellence, innovation and continuousimprovement across the department. You will oversee the development andimplementation of policies, programs and projects that enhance communityamenity, improve compliance outcomes and support a safe and liveablemunicipality. The role also has responsibility for people leadership, financialmanagement, stakeholder engagement and fostering a high-performance culturethat delivers positive outcomes for the community.
About You
You are an accomplished and visionaryleader with extensive experience in regulatory services, compliance,



communitysafety or a related local government environment. You have a strong trackrecord of leading multidisciplinary teams, driving strategic outcomes anddelivering high-quality services that balance community expectations withlegislative requirements.
You are an influential communicator who canbuild strong relationships across all levels of Council, including Councillors,Executive Leadership, government agencies, community groups and industrystakeholders. Your collaborative leadership style, sound judgement andcommitment to continuous improvement enable you to inspire teams and deliverexceptional results.
To be successful in this role, you willdemonstrate:
Significant leadership experience incommunity amenity, compliance, local laws, regulatory services or arelated field.
Extensive knowledge of relevantlegislation, compliance frameworks and contemporary regulatory practiceswithin a local government setting.
Proven ability to lead, develop andmotivate high-performing teams while fostering a positive, accountable andcustomer-focused culture.
Strong strategic planning, policydevelopment and service improvement experience.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement,negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to providehigh-level advice to Councillors and Executive Leadership.
Demonstrated experience in financialmanagement, budgeting, resource allocation and contract management.
Strong project and program managementcapabilities, with the ability to drive innovation and deliverorganisational objectives.
Excellent analytical, problem-solvingand decision-making skills, supported by the ability to use data andperformance measures to improve service delivery.
Experience representing organisationsin community forums, hearings, tribunals and other public settings.
A commitment to continuousimprovement, best-practice governance and delivering positive communityoutcomes.
Flexibility to participate inemergency management activities and after-hours requirements as required.
The successful candidate will be astrategic and collaborative leader who can champion service excellence, leadorganisational change and deliver high-quality regulatory and complianceservices that enhance the safety, amenity and liveability of the City ofGreater Dandenong.
