Mezzanine is a brand strategy agency based in Newcastle, Australia. Since **** we've helped organisations build brands that mean something and for most of those organisations, their website is the largest and most visible expression of their brand in the world.
That's the context this role lives in. It's not a web developer position at a web company. It's a technology lead role inside a brand agency, where the work is driven by strategy and the standard is set by how well the experience serves the people using it.
What the role involves
You'll lead the delivery of web and digital projects for a range of clients, building in WordPress using Elementor and Crocoblock's JetEngine, managing your own workload across multiple projects, and bringing ideas to the table, not just executions of someone else's.
This is a hands‐on role. You'll do the build work yourself. But you'll also need to think beyond the brief, about what's possible, what's improving, and how we can keep raising the bar for clients. Curiosity is as key here as technical ability.
AI is central to how this role operates and evolves.



We're actively developing how we use it across our practice and expect this person to lead that thinking, not follow it. If you're already integrating AI tools into how you develop and problem-solve, and you're genuinely tracking where the space is heading, you'll fit right in.

You're a few years into development work and you're good at it, but you've never been just a coder. You think about the why behind what you're building. You notice when something could be better and you say so. You're comfortable working independently and making sound decisions without needing sign‐off at every step.
