The Role
Partner directly with business and product teams to identify, scope, and build agentic workflows, AI agents, and reusable skills that solve real problems

Advise on the platform decisions for where automations and agents are hosted (e.g. n8n, Databricks Apps, Claude-based tooling), balancing speed of delivery against maintainability, cost, and governance requirements
Design how agents and automations access data, working out the right layer to query from (governed semantic layer vs raw source), what permissions and guardrails should sit around that access, and how to avoid duplicating data prep or creating shadow pipelines
Shape how data is organised to make it usable by automations in the first place — partnering with Data Engineering on cataloguing, metadata, and lineage (e.g. via OpenMetadata) so agents are working from documented, trustworthy sources
Establish and maintain a model for ownership and stewardship: clear stewards for data domains and business processes, and clear owners for the automations/agents built on top of them, so accountability doesn't disappear once something goes live
Run the governance scaffolding for AI/automation adoption — tiered autonomy classification, risk assessment, and lifecycle management (build test deploy monitor retire) — so the organisation can scale agentic tooling without losing control of it
Work closely with the Data Architecture & Strategy Lead to prioritise which processes get automated first against the team's active strategic initiatives
This Person Is Someone With...
Strong prior experience shipping production software
Hands-on experience building agentic workflows and automations in tools like n8n,

and working with governed data platforms such as Databricks
Practical experience with agent patterns: tool use, function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, multi-step orchestration, structured outputs
Hands-on experience with LLM evaluation and observability and monitoring tooling (e.g. LangSmith, Langfuse, Braintrust, etc.)
A systems mindset — able to think simultaneously about the automation itself, the data it depends on, the platform it runs on, and who is accountable for each of those pieces
Experience or strong interest in data governance and metadata management (e.g. OpenMetadata, data cataloguing, lineage) and how it underpins reliable automation
A builder's instinct paired with a governance instinct — comfortable shipping quickly, but equally comfortable stepping back to ask "who owns this, who's accountable if it breaks, and does it need guardrails"
Strong stakeholder skills — able to sit with a business team, translate a manual or ad hoc process into a well-scoped automation, and bring the right people into a conversation about ownership
Comfort operating with a degree of ambiguity, since this is a new kind of role at Lumi and the person will help define its shape as much as fill it
Experience in fintech, lending, or financial services highly regarded
