Position Descriptor:
The Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre is a full-time rural integrated service for children from birth to school age providing preschool, inclusive preschool program for children with additional needs, occasional care, playgroups and a range of family support programs provided by allied health staff, community development and family support co-ordinators. The newly built facilities provide an amazing natural learning environment that fosters dialogue and relationships, these coupled with the skilled workforce are proving to accelerate the outcomes for children and their families. Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre was named in consultation with the community and means `Place we go to become bigger, stronger and better'. The centre is a full time rural integrated service for children from birth to school age providing preschool (including 3yr old Aboriginal children program), inclusive preschool programme for children with additional needs, occasional care, playgroups and a range of family support programmes provided by allied health staff, community development and occupational therapist. Since **** the site has successfully implemented the Australian Government funded Connected Beginning programme which is designed to support Aboriginal children and their families in areas of high need be well prepared for school by supporting pregnant Aboriginal women, and Aboriginal children from birth to school age. The centre is situated in Ceduna, 800 kilometres north-west of Adelaide and has a population of approximately 3,423.



The centre operates under a`hub and spoke' model whereby a range of services are available to families in one place, with outreach services delivered in other locations to suit the needs of communities. Critical to the success of the centre and optimising outcomes for children is the maintenance of close working relationships with other family support agencies and the Ceduna Areas school.
In addition to the salary, other financial incentives may apply depending on the site location: /countryteaching .Attraction and retention allowance may apply.
Please note that a new classification level may be applied to this site during the advertised tenure. Where this new classification level results in a remuneration level that is higher than that advertised, the new remuneration level will apply. Where the current classification level results in a remuneration level that is lower than the advertised remuneration, the remuneration associated with the advertised classification level under the SA School and Preschool Education Staff Enterprise Agreement **** will apply.
The successful applicant will be able to negotiate a reduction in the advertised tenure following their appointment, if required. Please note that part time and flexible arrangements will be considered.
