Due to the recent departure of a long-standing team member, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tax Manager to join the Australian business. This is a broad role offering exposure across tax compliance, advisory and reporting within a sophisticated banking setting.
The Role
Reporting into senior Finance leadership, you will take ownership of a broad range of Australian tax matters and work closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, Operations and the wider business.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provision of quality advice to the ANZ business on tax considerations for projects in foreign countries
Review of local tax law to manage corporate permanent establishment issues and choice of entity in foreign jurisdictions
Working collaboratively with the Group Tax team to ensure all other Group Tax compliance needs are met
Working collaboratively with local in-country advisors to ensure direct, indirect and personal taxes are being managed appropriately on taxable projects in foreign countries
Maintaining Tax, Compliance & Statutory returns calendar for the Australian Business
Provision of advisory support for project start-ups and close-outs regarding tax and registration requirements
Management of tax audits for the ANZ business
Escalation/review of all reporting, valuation and pricing issues
Strong accounting standards knowledge or tax technical knowledge
Planning, co-ordination and implementation of all processes
Reporting directly to the CFO
Assisting in mentoring staff and training and development and assisting with the management of staff
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or Taxation coupled with CA/CPA qualifications
Demonstrated 10+ years' experience in a corporate tax compliance role
Demonstrated experience in international taxation matters
Ideally exposure to a business with global operations
Strong stakeholder engagement skills to proactively manage a geographically diverse business
Ability to work in an autonomous fashion while being proactive to seek out information and initiate business improvements
Cross-border transactions and how to apply Double Tax Agreements
Practical experience reviewing legal documentation
Practical experience preparing & reviewing corporate tax calculations, tax accounting calculations and regulatory filings
