Aboutthe role
The Public Health team plays a vital rolein protecting and enhancing the health, safety and wellbeing of our diverse andgrowing community. Due to a vacancy within the team, an exciting opportunityhas become available for an Environmental Health Officer to join the City ofGreater Dandenong.
As an Environmental Health Officer, youwill contribute to the delivery of key public and environmental health servicesacross the municipality. Working within a dynamic and customer-focused team,you will undertake inspections, investigations, education, compliance andenforcement activities to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and promotepositive public health outcomes.
This varied role will see you responding tocustomer requests, investigating public health concerns, partnering withbusinesses and community members, and supporting continuous improvementinitiatives within the Public Health unit. Through your work, you will helpcreate a safer, healthier and more liveable municipality for residents,visitors and businesses.
Aboutyou
You are amotivated and customer-focused professional with a solid understanding ofenvironmental and public health principles and legislation. You are confidentin applying a balanced regulatory approach, combining education, collaborationand enforcement to achieve positive outcomes for the community.
To besuccessful in this role, you will bring:
Experiencein environmental health, public health, regulatory services or a related field.
Knowledgeof relevant legislation, including the Food Act, Public Health and WellbeingAct, and associated regulations.
Stronginspection, investigation and compliance skills, with the ability to exercisesound judgement and make evidence-based decisions.
Excellentcommunication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provideclear advice and build productive relationships with businesses, residents andcolleagues.
Well-developedwritten communication skills, including the preparation of reports, notices andregulatory documentation.
Strongorganisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competingpriorities and respond effectively to customer requests.
Acollaborative approach and commitment to working as part of a high-performingteam.
Aprofessional, ethical and customer-centric attitude, with a commitment todelivering quality public health outcomes.
Flexibilityto participate in after-hours or on-call activities as required.
