About the role

The Manager, Industrial Security / Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for establishing, maintaining and continually improving L3H GS2A's protective security framework and ensuring compliance with Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership obligations.

Acting as the principal advisor to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on all security matters, the CSO provides strategic leadership and governance across personnel, physical, information and industrial security domains to ensure L3H GS2A effectively manages security risks while supporting business growth and operational objectives.

The role is accountable for developing security strategies, policies and programs that protect personnel, facilities, information, technologies and commercial interests while ensuring compliance with applicable Australian Government security requirements, including DISP, PSPF, DSPF and ISM obligations.

The CSO will work closely with Defence customers, government agencies, senior leadership and program teams to ensure security considerations are embedded into business planning, project execution, risk management and organisational decision making.

What the role will involve

Key Business Operations Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain the L3H GS2A Security Management System.

Lead security governance activities and provide strategic security advice to the MD and SLT.

Ensure compliance with Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) obligations and maintain organisational readiness for Defence assurance activities and audits.

Establish and maintain organisational security policies, standards, procedures and work instructions

Develop and maintain the Security Risk Management Plan and associated security assurance activities

Monitor emerging threats, vulnerabilities and regulatory changes and implement appropriate mitigation actions

Manage the organisation's security governance forums and provide regular reporting on security performance, risks and compliance

Key Protective Security Responsibilities

Provide oversight of personnel, physical, information and industrial security functions across the organisation

Develop and maintain site security plans, risk assessments and security operating procedures

Ensure ongoing compliance with Australian Government security requirements including PSPF, DSPF and Information Security Manual (ISM) controls

Maintain oversight of security accreditations, certifications and facility security requirements





Support secure facility operations and management of classified information environments

Coordinate security programs supporting domestic and international business operations where required.

Key Personnel Security Responsibilities

Maintain oversight of security clearance sponsorship and personnel security management activities

Ensure effective ongoing assessment and management of personnel suitability

Manage security awareness, induction and refresher training programs

Implement and maintain Insider Threat Program arrangements and supporting policies

Promote a strong organisational security culture through education, awareness and leadership engagement

Key Incident and Risk Management Responsibilities

Lead investigations into security incidents, breaches and non-compliance events

Coordinate incident reporting, corrective actions and lessons learned activities

Manage crisis response and security-related emergency management activities

Ensure security risks are identified, assessed, monitored and managed through enterprise risk management processes

Develop and implement security improvement initiatives that enhance organisational resilience and maturity.

Key Supply Chain Security Responsibilities

Develop and maintain supply chain security governance processes

Assess supplier security risks and ensure appropriate contractual security obligations are implemented

Support subcontractor and partner due diligence activities relating to security compliance and risk

Collaborate with Commercial, Procurement and Program teams to ensure security requirements are flowed down appropriately through contracts and agreements

Stakeholder Engagement Responsibilities

Act as the primary security interface with Defence, government agencies and relevant industry partners

Develop strong working relationships across all business functions to ensure security requirements support operational objectives

Effectively communicate security risks, requirements and emerging threats to stakeholders at all levels

Provide Chief Security Officer support to associated business units, programs or facilities as required

Key Accountabilities

Maintenance of DISP membership and compliance across all applicable security domains

Development, implementation and continual improvement of the L3H GS2A Security Management System

Achievement of organisational security objectives and performance measures

Effective management of security risks and protection of personnel, facilities, information and assets

Maintenance of security policies, procedures and assurance activities

Delivery of security awareness, training and Insider Threat Program objectives

Timely management and reporting of security incidents and corrective actions

Successful completion of security audits, assessments and Defence assurance activities





Provision of accurate security reporting and advice to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team

Development and maintenance of a positive and proactive organisational security culture

Essential Requirements

Minimum seven (7) years' experience in a senior security leadership, Industrial Security Manager or Chief Security Officer role

Demonstrated experience managing security operations within a Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) environment

Extensive knowledge of:

Defence Industry Security Program (DISP)

Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)

Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF)

Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)

Personnel, physical and information security principles

Proven experience developing and implementing security governance frameworks, policies and management systems

Demonstrated ability to manage security risks within a complex operational setting

Experience leading security investigations, incident response and assurance activities

Strong ICT and cyber security awareness

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) Security Clearance.
