Company
3C Energy is an engineering-led group delivering power, control and asset reliability systems for critical industrial infrastructure. Through Synchrotech, we design and build power, industrial process and control solutions. Through machinemonitor®, we deliver HV electrical asset condition monitoring, testing and maintenance. We work from initial design through commissioning and into long-term operations.
The Role
This is not a compliance-administration role. We are bringing two businesses together and we need one HSEQ function that works in the workshop, on client sites and in front of the Board.
You will own health, safety, environment and quality across the group including the systems, the standards, the assurance and the culture that sits behind them. Our people work on and around energised HV assets, in client-controlled sites across Australia and New Zealand and in a manufacturing and commissioning environment. The risk is real and the work is technical. We want someone who understands both.
You will work closely with the Group CEO. Brisbane-based with some travel across Australia and New Zealand as required.
We are acquiring and we are growing. This is a doer's role first - you will be building the function not inheriting it. For the right person, it is a genuine path onto the executive leadership team.
What you will own
- Multi-jurisdictional compliance - a single group system that satisfies WHS regimes in Australia and the Health and Safety at Work Act in New Zealand.
- One group HSEQ management system - harmonising the legacy systems of both businesses into a single set of standards, procedures and controls that field crews and workshop teams will actually use.
- The Skytrust rollout across the group - holding the vendor and internal leads to milestones and making sure adoption is real, not nominal.
- ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification - maintenance, surveillance audits and closing the gaps between the two businesses.
- Critical risk and electrical safety - HV testing and switching, working near live plant, remote and client-controlled sites, fabrication and commissioning hazards.
- Incident management end-to-end - response, investigation, root cause, corrective actions and lessons that travel across both businesses.
- Client prequalification, contractor management and tender HSEQ responses - the credentials that keep us on approved-supplier lists with tier-one industrial and utility clients.
- Quality assurance in a manufacturing and field-services setting - ITPs, non-conformance, supplier quality, warranty and continuous improvement.
- The HSEQ operating rhythm - leading indicators, Board and ExCo reporting, audit and inspection schedule and action registers that close.
- Building and mentoring HSEQ capability across the group including leaders who do not report to you.
- HSEQ due diligence and integration on future acquisitions - bringing recent businesses onto the group system.
Who we're looking for
- Credible in the field - can walk a site or a workshop and be taken seriously by the people doing the work.
- Bias to action - closes loops without being asked.
- Direct and respectful - holds senior people, supervisors and contractors to their commitments.
- High ownership - treats the group's problems as their own.
- Comfortable with ambiguity - builds the system as they go in a group that is still integrating.
- Pragmatic - knows the difference between a control that reduces risk and paperwork that protects no one.
- Calm under pressure and steady when something goes wrong.
- Uses AI in their work or is genuinely keen to learn - we expect it across the group and it is not optional here.
Preferred experience
- 5+ years' HSEQ experience in electrical services, industrial maintenance, energy, construction or manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian and New Zealand WHS legislation and the Queensland electrical safety framework with the practical ability to translate it into controls people follow.
- Proven track record developing HSEQ systems, policies and frameworks and rolling them out across a multi-site or multi-entity business.
- Confident working to ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001 — whether that's holding existing certification through audits or taking a business through certification for the first time.
- Experience influencing and coaching operations managers, project leaders and supervisors with the credibility to challenge when required.
- Fluent in Microsoft 365, willing to learn Skytrust, Odoo and other group tools quickly.
- Already using AI tools in your work, or ready to. We use them across the group for drafting, analysis and document review and we will teach you.
- Clear, professional written communication suitable for Board, client and regulator use.
- Exposure to post-acquisition integration, multi-entity groups or systems implementation is a plus.
Depth of judgment matters more than length of experience. Mentoring will be provided.
If you want to move beyond compliance and build an HSEQ function that shapes how a growing group operates, we'd love to hear from you.
