About the Role

We are currently seeking a Signalling Electrician (Maintenance Infrastructure Technician – Signals) to join our Rail Infrastructure Maintenance team.

This role is responsible for delivering preventative and corrective maintenance across signalling infrastructure to ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of Adelaide’s tram network. You will conduct inspections, audits, fault-finding and repairs, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across signalling systems and processes.

This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to a technically capable electrician who is safety-focused, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect, maintain and functionally test tram signalling infrastructure including points machines, interlockings, signal aspects, detection systems and local control equipment to ensure assets remain safe, compliant and operationally reliable.

- Undertake detailed fault investigation and rectification of signalling and points equipment, including loss of detection, points failures, signal irregularities and tram priority interface issues, restoring assets to service in a controlled and safe manner.

- Maintain signalling location equipment, location cases, power supplies, control relays, wiring systems and communication interfaces

- Carry out installation, renewal and upgrade works involving signalling equipment, points machines, cabling systems and associated infrastructure, including assisting with testing, adjustment and commissioning to confirm correct system functionality.

- Monitor asset condition and performance,



identifying early indicators of deterioration, wear or abnormal behaviour, and initiate corrective maintenance or recommendations to prevent failures and improve asset reliability.

- Accurately record maintenance activities, fault reports, inspections and test outcomes within the asset management system, ensuring all safety-critical documentation is complete, traceable and compliant with regulatory and organisational requirements.

- Apply safe systems of work when accessing, isolating, testing or maintaining signalling infrastructure, ensuring all activities are undertaken in accordance with rail safety requirements, electrical safety obligations and network procedures.

- Provide technical support during fault response, planned works and investigations, contributing practical expertise to resolve complex signalling issues and support the safe operation of the tram network.

- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of signalling reliability by identifying recurring faults, equipment weaknesses and maintenance optimisation opportunities, and supporting implementation of engineering and maintenance improvements.

- Assist in maintaining team capability by supporting training, knowledge transfer and mentoring activities to ensure consistent standards and technical competency across signalling personnel.

- Participate in on-call arrangements, providing timely fault response and technical support to maintain signalling system availability and operational continuity.

You are a qualified, safety-conscious electrician with strong technical capability and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Current SA Driver’s Licence

- Unrestricted Electrical Licence

- Construction Industry White Card

- Demonstrated experience working in a quick-paced, team-oriented environment

- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

- Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and technical information quickly

- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of development

Desirable (but not essential)

- Certificate IV in Rail Signalling

- Track Safety Awareness

- High Risk Work Licence (EWP, Forklift)

- Current Low Voltage Rescue Certificate

- MR/HR Licence

- Knowledge of rail safety legislation and regulatory compliance requirements
