About the role
Alliance MultiCare Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Kingsbury, VIC. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with various disabilities, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life. This role is crucial to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support services within the community.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, dressing and toileting
- Support clients with meal preparation, nutrition management and feeding as required
- Assist with mobility support and secure manual handling techniques to promote independence and prevent injury
- Support clients in accessing community activities, appointments and social engagement opportunities
- Communicate effectively with clients, families and the support team to understand and respond to individual needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided and any changes in client wellbeing
- Promote client dignity, respect and choice in all support interactions
- Assist with household tasks such as light cleaning and laundry support when necessary
- Follow established care plans and respond appropriately to any changes in client needs or concerns
- Work collaboratively with other support workers and allied health professionals to deliver consistent, quality care
What we're looking for
- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families
- Physical fitness and capacity to provide hands-on support, including assisting with mobility and personal care
- Reliability, punctuality and professionalism in all interactions and responsibilities
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain it
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain it
- National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible, casual capacity
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations
- A commitment to ongoing career development and training in aged and disability support
- Preferred: Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services or related fields
- Preferred: Certificate III or IV in Disability, Aged Care or Allied Health Assistance
