About the role
The position is approximately 20 hours per week, primarily across weekday afternoons/evenings and Sundays. This is a hands-on basketball role combining junior coaching, competition supervision and venue operations. Sunday availability is essential, with Sundays generally running from approximately 8:00am–5:00pm.
Key responsibilities
- Coaching junior basketball teams, training sessions and skills programs
- Supervising EBL competition venues
- Setting up venues and ensuring games run to schedule
- Scoring games and assisting with game-day operations when required
- Supporting and supervising referees and venue staff
- Communicating with coaches, players and parents on game day
- Helping resolve basic game-day issues
- Ensuring our competitions provide a positive, organised and enjoyable experience
- Assisting with basketball camps, clinics and other EBL programs where required
About you
- Basketball coaching or playing experience
- A robust understanding of basketball
- Confidence working with children and teenagers
- Good communication and people skills
- The ability to take responsibility for a venue and make decisions when required
- Strong organisation and punctuality
- A calm and positive approach when dealing with parents, coaches and players
- Availability on Sundays and some weekday afternoons/evenings
- A current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
