Brisbane City Council is seeking an experienced, leadership-minded Boilermaker to join our Structures Division as a Leading Hand.

This role is predominantly field-based, giving you the opportunity to lead on-site teams delivering critical cross-river bridge infrastructure and heavy structural projects across Brisbane. You will also spend time in the workshop supporting custom fabrication and prep work.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead daily in office crew operations, delegate tasks, enforce safety/quality standards, and mentor apprentices.
- Perform complex structural fabrication, repairs, modifications, and site erection on cross-river bridge structures.
- Read and work directly from complex engineering drawings, produce accurate field sketches, and design custom jigs/fixtures for component manufacture.
- Complete daily job paperwork, risk assessments, and communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and council stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

- Cert III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker/Welding) or equivalent




- Demonstrated Leadership Experience
- High Risk Work Licences (EWP, Riggers or Dogman)
- MR or HR Truck Licence
