A permanent Consultant Anaesthetist opportunity is available within the primary referral hospital for a major Central Queensland health service.
This 300 bed facility delivers comprehensive specialist services and functions as the region’s leading acute care centre. You will provide anaesthetic care across elective and emergency settings, working alongside established surgical, obstetric, critical care and medical teams.
This role offers broad tertiary-level regional exposure with genuine clinical depth, professional stability and scope for leadership.
The Hospital
As the largest hospital within the regional network, this 300 bed referral facility provides:
- 24/7 Emergency services
- Intensive Care
- General Surgery and Orthopaedics
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Paediatrics
- Cardiology and Renal Medicine
- Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Psychiatry and Palliative Care
The hospital services a large regional and rural catchment and plays a central leadership role within the health service.
The Anaesthesia Department is accredited for 52 weeks of ANZCA training, supporting a strong supervision and teaching culture.
A new mental health facility is currently under construction, further strengthening specialist capacity.

Requirements
- Specialist Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility)
- Fellowship of ANZCA (FANZCA) or nearing completion
- Minimum 12 months recent Consultant Anaesthetist experience
International Medical Graduates:
- Eligible for recognised ANZCA pathway (including Competent Authority)
- ANZCA interview confirmed
- Assessed as substantially comparable
- Visa pathways available
