Consultant Emergency Medicine | Regional Base Hospital | New South Wales
The Opportunity
We are working closely with a regional base hospital in New South Wales to connect with a Consultant in Emergency Medicine seeking a full-time appointment within a busy Emergency Department.
This opportunity offers a broad regional ED scope, with around 26,000 annual presentations cited in a publicly available hospital profile, alongside a mixed adult and paediatric caseload and strong day-to-day involvement across acute assessment, resuscitation, supervision, and service delivery. It will suit a FACEM who values hands-on emergency medicine, clinical ownership, and meaningful contribution within a hospital that remains central to care across its surrounding community.
The Hospital
This is a level 3/4 regional base hospital within Northern New South Wales, providing emergency, medical, surgical, orthopaedic, paediatric, anaesthetic, maternity, intensive and critical care, renal, oncology, palliative care, outpatient and day surgery services. A current ACEM accredited site list shows the Emergency Department is accredited for 24 months core ED training, with PLB/PER and TS4 approval.
Hospital capability includes:
- Regional base hospital status within a broader Northern NSW network.
- Mixed Emergency Department workload with around 26,000 presentations annually in a publicly available hospital profile.
- Broad inpatient and peri-acute interface across medicine, surgery, paediatrics, maternity, renal, oncology and critical care.
- ACEM accredited for 24 months core ED training, with PLB/PER and TS4 approval listed on the current register dated 17 March 2026.
- Major redevelopment investment of $263.8 million planned to deliver an expanded Emergency Department, Emergency Short Stay, Medical Imaging, MRI, inpatient capacity,
and an expanded day surgery and operating suite.

Requirements
- Specialist Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility)
- FACEM or eligible
- ACEM trainee approaching Fellowship
- International Medical Graduates assessed by ACEM as partially or substantially comparable
