Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is an acute hospital that supports a population of approximately 80,000 and is the only ANZAC Memorial hospital remaining in NSW. Easily accessible to Sydney residents, our team of clinicians, allied health, and support staff works with the community on a shared goal to maintain the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Blue Mountains region.

The Aboriginal Health Practitioner/Worker is a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing flexible, holistic, and culturally safe healthcare services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families. The role involves advocating for Aboriginal patients, supporting access to services, and ensuring culturally appropriate care throughout their healthcare journey.





Following completion of the Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice and registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA, the successful applicant will deliver clinical care within a delegated model of care and under supervision. This includes supporting patients through basic clinical procedures, health assessments, care coordination, medication support, and liaison with health professionals. The role also contributes to health promotion, health education, disease prevention initiatives, and helps Aboriginal people and their families understand clinical interventions and make informed decisions about their healthcare needs.

What you will bring to the role * Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (an applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and a demonstrated ability to effectively and sensitively liaise and communicate with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and agencies.

- Has undertaken or is willing to undertake, a Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting the health of Aboriginal people, particularly mental health, drug & alcohol, psychosocial, domestic violence or sexual assault issues.
- Must be able to identify and implement health promotion activities within a secure environment for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Patients.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy, including Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to work unsupervised, take initiative, and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.
