Emergency Medicine CMO | Regional Referral ED | Northern NSW

The Opportunity
We are currently speaking with Career Medical Officers interested in joining a regional referral emergency department in Northern New South Wales. Lismore Base Hospital is a regional referral, level 5 base hospital, and its Emergency Department sees more than 41,000 adult and paediatric presentations each year within a structured high-volume regional environment.
This role is well suited to PGY5+ doctors, career emergency CMOs and international doctors seeking a substantial regional emergency medicine position with broad clinical exposure, meaningful responsibility and strong specialty backup. The department is also recognised as a regional trauma centre and is linked with the local helicopter retrieval service.

The Hospital
This is a acute referral hospital with around 280 beds, serving a population of approximately 170,000 across the Far North Coast of New South Wales. It has undergone a major redevelopment program, including upgrades to the Emergency Department and broader acute hospital infrastructure.
The Emergency Department:

- 41,000+ annual presentations
- Regional referral, level 5 base hospital

- 55 ED beds/treatment spaces
- 12 bed ICU and 6 bed Coronary Care Unit
- Strong specialty and retrieval support

Requirements

- AHPRA registration (or eligibility)
- Registrar, CMO or equivalent Emergency Medicine experience
- Minimum 12 months recent ED or acute care experience
- PGY5+ strongly preferred for CMO-level responsibilities
- International Medical Graduates assessed as partially or substantially comparable, or preparing to lodge assessment
