Consultant Gastroenterologist | Tertiary Referral Centre | High-Need Population
The Opportunity
We are working closely with a major tertiary referral hospital in Australia’s north and are keen to connect with FRACP Gastroenterologists interested in practising within a diverse and high-impact clinical environment.
This service supports a large regional and remote population and offers broad exposure across general gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopic practice. The case mix includes complex liver disease, infectious pathology and advanced presentations rarely encountered in metropolitan-only practice.
This role will appeal to Gastroenterologists seeking meaningful clinical breadth, procedural volume and the opportunity to contribute to a high-need population.
The Hospital
This is the principal tertiary referral hospital for the Northern Territory, delivering secondary and tertiary services across a vast geographic region.
The Gastroenterology service provides:
- Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
- ERCP capability
- Inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology
- Strong General Medicine interface
- ICU and surgical backup
- Regional and remote referral support
The hospital maintains a strong teaching culture and supports registrar training and academic engagement.
Why Consider This Role
- Tertiary referral centre
- Broad hepatology and complex pathology exposure
- Established endoscopy service with ERCP
- Significant regional and remote case mix
- Teaching hospital workplace
- Substantially comparable pathway supported
For interstate or international applicants, the RACP assessment and registration pathway can be clearly structured to ensure transparency at each stage.
The Location
Based in Australia’s northern capital, the city offers short commute times, year-round warmth and immediate access to outdoor environments. Consultants benefit from metropolitan infrastructure combined with a distinctive tropical lifestyle.
Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) – Gastroenterology
- Specialist Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility)
- International Medical Graduates assessed by RACP as partially or substantially comparable
