Role Overview

Metso is seeking a confident, capable and proactive Senior Safety Advisor to strengthen HSE at our Karratha Service Centre. This is a permanent, full-time role and will suit someone based in Karratha.

This is a hands-on, operationally focused role with a clear priority in the first 12–18 months: working closely with the site leadership team to build a strong, practical safety foundation and support the shift toward an operations-led safety model.

As the site matures and safety becomes more embedded, the role will broaden into Field Services, moving to a 50:50 split between the Service Centre and field-based work. This will include supporting Field Service teams on site and working alongside customers to strengthen safety outcomes and relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

Building the Foundation (Service Centre Focus)

- Supporting the Service Centre leadership team to embed an operations-led approach to safety

- Working alongside supervisors, trades and technicians to build practical, day-to-day safety ownership

- Assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety programs, policies and procedures aligned with Metso, APA and legislative requirements

- Supporting the ongoing improvement of the HSE Management System within the Repair Centre

- Conducting audits, inspections and compliance checks to maintain solid safety standards

- Supporting risk assessments and ensuring effective, practical controls are in place

- Encouraging safe behaviours and constructively challenging unsafe practices

- Leading/ supporting with incident investigations and contributing to meaningful corrective actions

- Supporting safety engagement through conversations, toolbox talks and team forums

- Maintaining awareness of regulatory requirements and supporting compliance activities

Broadening into Field Services (Service Centre + Field Focus)





- Supporting Field Service teams on site, working alongside supervisors and technicians in a similar capability building role as service centres

- Gaining exposure to site-based risks and applying this to strengthen safety practices

- Supporting interactions with customers to build open and practical safety relationships

- Applying learnings from the Service Centre to uplift field-based safety outcomes

- Spending time in the field to understand work and support safe delivery

- Continuing to support and sustain safety performance at the Service Centre

About You

You’re a practical and approachable safety professional who understands how work gets done on the ground. You’re comfortable being out in the workshop, building relationships, and supporting teams to work safely.

You’re keen to learn, build your experience, and grow your impact over time.

You will also bring:

- Experience in HSE or safety roles within mining, manufacturing, workshop, repair or heavy industrial environments

- Exposure to field service or site-based work environments

- An operational or trade background with the ability to confidently engage with frontline teams (highly regarded)

- Working knowledge of WHS legislation and safety management systems

- Experience supporting audits, inspections and incident investigations

- Understanding of risk assessments, safe work procedures and controls

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build trust

- Proficiency in safety systems, reporting tools or willingness to learn

- Injury management and return-to-work exposure (desirable)

- Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent (highly regarded)
