About ARRC Gold Coast

The Advanced Resource Recovery Centre, or ARRC, is transforming how the Gold Coast manages its waste and turns it into value.

Owned by the City of Gold Coast, this $1.6 billion precinct is set to become one of the world’s first planned waste and energy precincts – providing Gold Coast residents a new value-for-money and environmentally responsible way to manage our region’s waste. It will also divert up to 97% of the waste currently sent to landfill.

Progressively rolling out during the next six years, our initial focus is three integrated but distinct facilities – ARRC Organics, ARRC Recycling and ARRC Energy. The three facilities will process the waste from your green, yellow and red bins respectively. In fact, ARRC Organics in Yatala is already doing just that.

ARRC is also developing a circular economy innovation park (ARRC Innovation) and community hub (ARRC Hub) as well as looking at opportunities to decarbonise the City’s vehicles through ARRC Hydrogen.

Creating jobs for more than 2,000 people during construction and 350 people during operation, ARRC is being designed from the ground up to achieve the very best circular economy outcomes for our region.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to one of the Gold Coast’s most significant infrastructure programs. As Senior Engineer, you will provide technical input, design review and engineering assurance across ARRC’s waste recovery, recycling and energy portfolio.

Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from planning, design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover. You will help ensure engineering solutions are safe, compliant, fit for purpose and aligned with ARRC’s operational,

sustainability and long-term asset objectives.

Your Key Responsibilities – Make Your Mark

- Support engineering standards, technical specifications, design assurance and governance across studies, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

- Provide engineering review and design oversight during the delivery of major, minor and renewal capital projects.

- Contribute to HAZOP, risk and value-for-money workshops, balancing safety, performance, sustainability and commercial considerations.

- Provide construction-phase support, including site inspections, design verification and input into variations or design changes.

- Identify relevant engineering innovations and embed circular economy and sustainable design principles into project outcomes.

- Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, asset operators, the City of Gold Coast and other stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

You will be an experienced engineer who combines strong technical judgement with a practical, collaborative approach. You will be comfortable working across complex projects, challenging assumptions constructively and influencing outcomes in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications & Experience

- Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility; RPEQ is desirable.

- A minimum of seven years’ experience in the development and design of major infrastructure or capital works programs, ideally in waste, resource recovery, recycling, utilities or industrial sectors.

- Demonstrated experience contributing to complex infrastructure or capital works projects and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.

- Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement frameworks and risk management practices.

Key Strengths & Attributes

- Strong engineering capability, analytical thinking and practical problem-solving skills.

- Commercial and financial acumen, with the confidence to review and challenge technical assumptions.

- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.

- A collaborative, adaptable and results-oriented approach, with the ability to balance competing priorities.

- A genuine commitment to sustainability, innovation and creating long-term community value.

Why Join ARRC Gold Coast?
