Reporting to the WHS and Wellbeing Manager (the Manager), this position provides specialist support
developing, implementing and monitoring Council's enterprise risk with a significant focus on Work
Health and Safety and Wellbeing frameworks that monitor and evaluate Council's exposure to WHS
risk and assist with associated functions and programs.
The position is part of a specialist team which provides Directorate and Service Unit focused risk
management with a specific focus on WHS and Wellbeing support, and progresses organisational
Wellbeing initiatives. It enables the effective and proactive service delivery of WHS and Wellbeing
services throughout Council and supports public safety consistent with WHS legislation, using a
practical continuous improvement approach.
This role operates under the leadership of the Manager and assists with the preparation of reports to
senior leadership, the Executive and forums such as the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
(ARIC).
The role also involves input and collaboration with Council's Return to Work functions including
Workers Compensation claims.

Essential Criteria
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated senior specialist experience in Safety related
risk management in a diverse operational service delivery focused organisation.
2. Demonstrated relevant experience delivering safety leadership advice and support to resolve
problems or investigate and respond to business continuity matters or responsible incidents, where
several complex alternatives need to be addressed
3. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective workplace relationships and stakeholder




management through advanced communication skills and approachable style with a passion for
risk management, safety improvement and customer service
4. Demonstrated project management skills, including a proven track record of systems/process
improvement and delivery
5. Proven ability and experience in driving a proactive risk management and safety culture
6. Proven ability and experience in contributing to a positive safety culture
7. Current Class C (minimum) NSW Drivers Licence

Knowledge and understanding of Local Government
Additional relevant qualifications in Workplace Training & Evaluation, Incident Investigation and
Return to Work Coordination

- Understanding of a structured continuous improvement process/cycle and demonstrated ability to
identify, implement and review the process/ cycle which result in positive change/s in service
delivery
- Demonstrated high level computer skills and ability to use a variety of office-based software.
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council's values of: integrity, respect, innovation,
compassion and collaboration.
- Understanding of continuous learning principles, equal employment opportunities, and ethical
practice principles
- An outstanding and demonstrated commitment to Risk performance
