About Us

Dawson Street Children’s Co-Operative (DSCC) is a community not-for-profit centre offering quality early learning programs. We are a small centre (62 places) and offer Childcare, 3-and 4-year-old integrated kindergarten and Tree Kinder. Our centre is in Melbourne’s inner north and provides care for children from 12 weeks to 6 years old.

Our philosophy is centred on being RESPECTFUL, SAFE and EMPOWERED with a focus on supporting CHILD-LED learning and being a part of the COMMUNITY. Our educators have - and are encouraged to develop - genuine relationships with the children and their families.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Diploma qualified educator who can grow with us and be a part of our core team.

About You

We are looking for passionate, early childhood educators who hold a valid Diploma in Early Childhood education and are:

- Friendly and love working with children

- Great communicators

- Passionate about building relationships with children and families

- Dedicated to providing fun, educational and play-based learning

- Collaborative with other educators and staff; and

- Interested in current educational trends and methods to enhance learning outcomes for children.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Lead, guide and support educators and staff within a team to create a safe, supportive,



stimulating and educational environment for all children, educators, family and community.

- Collaboratively assist with the development, implementation and reflection of the educational program to provide a high-quality, play-based curriculum for all children and families

- Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, educators, staff and management to deliver best outcomes for families and children

- Implement inclusive practice and lead an environment which honours diversity

- Ensure the room workplace facilitates relevant regulations, policies and procedures

Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma in Children’s Services or (ACECQA) approved Australian equivalent or enrolled

- Sound Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework

- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the Code of Ethics (Early Childhood Australia Inc.) and always act within these guidelines

- A current ACECQA First Aid Certificate, CPR, Asthma and Accredited Anaphylaxis Certificate

- Valid Working with Children’s Check

- Accredited Child Protection Training

- Experience in promoting a healthy and cohesive team environment and develop positive channels of communication where educators and staff within your team feel supported and valued

- Promote positive, comforting and nurturing relationships with children and view and respect children as competent and capable learners
