About the role

The Project Officer plans, coordinates and supports the operation and continued development of the Bluegum Native Plant Nursery. The role combines native plant production, supported-employment training, safe work practices, stakeholder engagement and grant-related reporting to help the Nursery achieve sustainable operational, employment and social-impact outcomes.

Fixed Term Contract:

This position is 3 days per a week (versatile days) for a fixed term while our current Project Officer is on Maternity Leave. We would like you to start before this Maternity leave begins (Monday 2nd November) for a hand over.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate and monitor nursery production to meet agreed quality, quantity and delivery requirements.

- Oversee plant production from seed or propagation through to sale and delivery.

- Monitor plant health and take timely action to reduce the risk of pests and disease.

- Implement, review and improve nursery management systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

- Maintain nursery infrastructure and coordinate approved improvements.

- Provide clear, practical training and workplace support to supported employees undertaking nursery activities.

- Break tasks into manageable steps and adapt instruction to individual learning styles, skills and support needs.

- Monitor and document skill development and increasing independence.

- Maintain accurate nursery, production, training and compliance records.

- Establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with customers, suppliers,



partners and other stakeholders.

About you

- Demonstrated knowledge of Tasmanian native flora and practical experience in native plant propagation or nursery production.

- Demonstrated experience coordinating horticultural, nursery, operational or comparable projects.

- Ability to train and support people with disability using clear, practical and adaptable instruction.

- Demonstrated commitment to NOSS values and inclusive employment practice.

- Knowledge of safe work practices relevant to nursery or horticultural operations, including biosecurity, manual handling and plant health.

- Strong organisational skills, including planning work, maintaining accurate records and meeting reporting timeframes.

- Effective communication and relationship-building skills with employees, customers, suppliers and community stakeholders.

- Competence using Microsoft 365 applications for communication, documentation and reporting.

- Current driver's licence.

- Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania) with NDIS Endorsement.
