Senior Automation & Virtualisation Infrastructure Engineer – Federal Gov Contract

Security Requirement: Must hold or be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance

Hatchit Studios is seeking an experienced Senior Automation & Virtualisation Infrastructure Engineer to support a federal government client in the delivery of secure and scalable infrastructure services.

This role requires deep technical expertise across VMware , automation frameworks , and enterprise infrastructure management within highly regulated environments.

About the Opportunity

As part of an established Infrastructure Platforms team, you will play a key role in the management, enhancement, and automation of VMware virtualisation environments and associated infrastructure platforms.

You’ll design and deliver automation solutions, maintain business-critical systems, and contribute to the ongoing uplift of the government’s technology capability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and optimise VMware environments including Aria Automation , Aria Orchestrator , vSphere , NSX , and Site Recovery Manager .
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell , PowerCLI , Ansible , or Terraform .
- Deliver design, build, and operational documentation to support ICT infrastructure services.
- Implement backup, storage, and replication solutions (e.g., Veeam , NetApp , or equivalent).
- Ensure system reliability, compliance,



and alignment with ICT best practices and security frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve complex infrastructure issues and drive service improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience Required

- Proven experience managing VMware environments (vSphere, Aria Automation/Orchestrator, NSX, Cloud Foundation).
- Robust automation and scripting capability with PowerShell , PowerCLI , YAML , or Ansible .
- Demonstrated experience delivering design, build, and operations documentation in structured ICT environments.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, CommVault, or similar).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Prior experience working in federal government or secure enterprise environments (highly regarded).
- Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain Baseline Security Clearance (NV1/NV2 highly regarded).
