About the role
Axiom College is seeking an experienced and passionate Conservation/Horticulture Trainer & Assessor to join our growing team in Brisbane, Queensland. This is a full-time, 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality vocational education and training within the Conservation and Horticulture sectors.
In this role, you will support students to develop the practical knowledge, skills, and confidence required to achieve successful outcomes and become job-ready for the industry. You will play a key role in delivering engaging training and assessment, maintaining compliance with vocational education standards, and fostering positive student engagement and completion rates across both classroom and workplace learning environments.
As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will contribute to the continued growth and success of our training programs while helping students achieve their career goals.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, interactive, and industry-relevant training sessions in Conservation and Horticulture.
- Conduct both classroom-based and workplace training and assessment.
- Provide individual mentoring and tailored support to students.
- Assess student work in accordance with RTO standards and provide constructive, timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate training and assessment records in line with compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with the broader training team to continuously improve course delivery and student outcomes.
- Stay current with industry developments, best practice, and regulatory changes.
About you
- Hold a TAE40122 or TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent training and assessment qualifications that meet current RTO requirements).
- Hold a relevant qualification in Conservation, Horticulture, Landscaping, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of recent industry experience within Conservation, Horticulture, Landscaping, Parks and Gardens, Land Management, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to support strong learner outcomes, participation, retention, and completion rates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
- Current Police Check, Blue Card (or willingness to obtain), and any other relevant compliance checks.
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
