Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Officer to join our Walan Ngayi-ny Dhulubang (Strong Mind, Strong Spirit) team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a committed team delivering culturally safe, holistic and community-led wellbeing supports that strengthen individuals, families and communities.

About the Role

The Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Officer plays a vital role in supporting the holistic health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Grounded in a culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, the role provides direct support, advocacy, case coordination and referrals across a range of wellbeing domains including:

- Social and emotional wellbeing
- Mental health support
- Alcohol and other drug concerns
- Family and community relationships
- Cultural identity and connection to Country
- Access to housing and essential supports
- Community participation and engagement
- Early intervention and wellbeing programs

Working closely with clients, families, Elders, community members and multidisciplinary teams, the SEWB Officer helps promote healing, resilience, empowerment and positive outcomes for Aboriginal people and their families.

About the Team

The SEWB Officer is a key member of the Walan Ngayi-ny Dhulubang (Strong Mind, Strong Spirit) team,



which forms the Social and Emotional Wellbeing and Holistic Healing arm of Orange Aboriginal Medical Service.

The team provides culturally responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, women and families, addressing the social, emotional, cultural and environmental factors that influence health and wellbeing. The team works collaboratively with internal OAMS services and external agencies to ensure coordinated and holistic care.

Essential Requirements

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (pursuant to Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 NSW)
- Minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, or a related discipline or working towards.
- Current NSW Working With Children Check
- Current National Criminal History Check
- Current Class C Driver Licence
- Demonstrated understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing principles
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, families and community stakeholders
- Strong communication, advocacy and case management skills
- Commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed practice

Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to:

- Undertake and pass a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- Complete a pre-employment wellness check (including drug and alcohol screening)
- Hold or obtain a NSW Working with Children Check

Remuneration

$37.27 per hour + superannuation under Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Award [MA000115]
