Job Description
Established in ****, ClubsNSW is the peak representative body for the NSW club industry.
We represent over 1,100 sporting and community-based clubs, including RSLs, bowls, golf and leagues clubs.
Clubs play a vital role in local communities - employing more than 54,000 people and supporting over 6.7 million memberships across NSW.
About the Role
ClubsNSW is seeking a high-performing Research Officer to support the delivery of research that directly informs advocacy, policy and strategic decision-making.
This is a hands-on role where your work will be used in submissions, board papers and industry campaigns.
You will contribute to major research projects, monitor research impacting the sector, and translate complex information into clear, practical insights that shape outcomes for the sector.
Reporting to the Manager Strategy and Insights, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure our advocacy is underpinned by credible, well-structured evidence.
Key Responsibilities
Research Project Delivery
Support major research projects (e.g. Social and Economic Impact Report)
Conduct structured literature reviews and synthesise findings into clear outputs
Coordinate inputs across stakeholders and external research partners
Prepare high-quality summaries, briefings and supporting materials
Evidence for Advocacy
Design and deliver member surveys aligned to advocacy priorities
Analyse outputs and identify key themes, risks and opportunities
Produce briefing notes, backgrounders and content for submissions, board papers and campaigns
Integrate internal and external research to strengthen policy positions
Research Monitoring and Insights
Monitor industry,



government and academic research
Distil key insights - what it means, why it matters and relevance to ClubsNSW
Maintain a central research repository
Provide rapid-turnaround insights on emerging issues
About You
You are a curious and commercially-minded researcher who is comfortable working at pace and producing high-quality written outputs.
You enjoy going beyond surface-level information - interrogating, synthesising and translating insights into practical, decision-ready material.
You will bring (essential)
Demonstrated experience in research, analysis or policy (government, consulting, not-for-profit or similar)
Strong written communication skills, with experience preparing briefings, reports or structured summaries
Proven ability to synthesise complex information into clear, concise insights
Experience contributing to research projects or analytical work in a professional environment
Robust attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Highly regarded
Experience in advocacy, policy or member-based organisations or other regulated industry.
Experience designing surveys, undertaking stakeholder consultation and survey delivery
Exposure to project management tools ( Asana, Monday, Trello, Excel)
