Job Description
BML is the owner of the Brisbane Markets and is responsible for its ongoing management, maintenance and development in support of the horticulture industry.
Brisbane Markets occupies 77 hectares of land with over 40 buildings and is Queensland's most important distribution and economic hub for the trade of fresh produce and flowers, with approximately 700 million kilograms of produce handled annually by over 160 tenants operating within the site.
About the role:
We are looking for an experienced building, trade professional, or someone in a similar role who is ready to take the next step in their career and transition from hands-on work into a Building Compliance, Facilities and Project Coordination role.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands how buildings, contractors and maintenance actually work and wants to use that practical experience in a coordination and compliance-focused position at our busy industrial site.
Working closely with the Head ofInfrastructure/FacilitiesManager, your responsibilities will include:
Conducting building, condition and tenancy inspections
Coordinating remedial and maintenance works
Managing contractors and service providers
Monitoring compliance servicing and statutory requirements
Coordinating tenant alterations and additions
Supporting building certification and Town Planning compliance
Developing scopes of work and coordinating projects
Ensuring works comply with WHS, legislation and organisational requirements
Preparing inspection, project and compliance reports
Liaising with tenants, contractors, service providers and internal stakeholders
About you
We are particularly interested in someone who has come from a building trade, planning, certification or construction background and is looking for a diverse role that is less hands on.
You will ideally bring:
Strong practical building and construction knowledge
Experience coordinating contractors or maintenance works
An understanding of building compliance and sound understanding of WHS requirements
Experience with building inspections or property maintenance
Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong organisational and time-management skills
A genuine interest in developing a career in facilities management and building compliance
Why this role?
This is a great opportunity to take the knowledge you've built on the tools or in a relevant role and apply it to a broader career in building compliance, facilities management, contractor coordination and project delivery.
If you're ready for the next step and want a role where your practical building experience is an advantage rather than something you leave behind, we'd like to hear from you.
What We Offer
Access to fuel discounts;
Access to gym memberships;
Salary continuance insurance;
Family friendly hours;
Free parking and access to EAP; and
Supportive work setting.
