The organisation operates within a regulatedfinancial servicesenvironment, and its legal function plays an important role in advising the business oncommercial law, regulatory compliance, insurance operations and legal risk.
You will join a supportive in‐house legal team that works closely with operational and corporate stakeholders to deliver practical, commercially focused legal advice.
The Legal Team is collaborative, high-performing and ready, willing and able to train and teach.
The Role
AsLegal Counsel, you will support a diverse portfolio ofcommercial, IT, and marketing issuesacross the organisation.
Working closely with business leaders, you will provide practical guidance that supports day‐to‐day commercial operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range ofcommercial contracts and legal agreements
Reviewing and advising on IT, data, privacy, property, marketing and sponsorship material across the business.
Managing legal matters end‐to‐end, including briefing and coordinatingexternal counselwhere required.
Supporting the development ofinternal policies, precedents and legal training,in particular for the business team, to strengthen legal awareness across the business
Working with internal stakeholders to identify and managelegal risk,



support regulatory responses and maintain accurate reporting of legal matters.
This role offers strong exposure to the commercial and operational side of anational financial services business, making it well‐suited to lawyers who enjoy a broad, business‐facingin‐house legal counselposition.
About You
You are anAustralian Legal Practitionerwith experience advising oncommercial matters, either in‐house or in private practice.
You enjoy working closely with business stakeholders and are comfortable providing clear, pragmatic advice in a regulated commercial environment.
You will bring:
3+ years' PQEgained in private practice or anin‐house legalenvironment
Experiencereviewing and advising on commercial agreementsto ensure compliance with internal policies and the legal framework.
Knowledge of Financial Services would be practical but not necessary — first and foremost, it's your commercial experience that is most important.
Stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical guidance
A pragmatic, commercially focused approach tolegal risk and compliance
