MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with afast-growing Australian insurtechto recruit aFinance & Operations Analystinto their growing team.
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded finance or operations professional to step into abroad, high-impact rolewith genuine ownership, with the opportunity to help shape processes as the business continues to grow.
You'll support a range offinancial, operational and reconciliation taskswhile taking ownership of key reporting, cash management and process improvement activities.
The Opportunity
This is a varied role that sits acrossfinance, operations, analysis and process improvement.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the business has strong financial processes and reporting in place, supporting cash flow and forecasting, and identifying opportunities to make the way the business operates more efficient.
A key part of the role will involve overseeing the organisation's premium collection and reconciliation processes, working with external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensuring financial information is accurate.
However, the role extends well beyond this.
You'll have the opportunity to work withAI-driven technology, support automation initiatives, contribute to strategic projects and gain exposure across risk, compliance and broader business operations.
This is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative and wants to move beyond a traditional transactional finance role.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Reporting
Support monthly financial reporting and management information
Assist with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management
Monitor the organisation's cash position and provide relevant insights
Assist with business performance reporting and financial analysis
Prepare accurate financial and settlement reports
Support senior leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
Cash Management & Reconciliation
Oversee key cash collection and reconciliation processes
Monitor payments and investigate discrepancies or outstanding balances
Identify trends and root causes behind financial discrepancies
Ensure records and reporting remain accurate and well documented
Work with external stakeholders to resolve queries and payment issues
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability
Work with internal technology/development teams to enhance existing AI-driven processes
Help reduce manual intervention through automation and workflow improvements
Review and improve existing processes as the business grows
Document procedures and establish best-practice processes
Operations & Strategic Projects
Support the COO with broader operational and strategic initiatives
Gain exposure to risk and compliance activities
Work collaboratively across different areas of the business
Provide analytical and operational support on projects and new initiatives
Take ownership of projects designed to improve the overall effectiveness of the business
About You
You're aproactive, analytical and commercially mindedprofessional who enjoys taking ownership and figuring out how things can be done better.
You may come from a finance, operations, accounting, insurance or corporate setting.
What matters most is that you're comfortable working with numbers and data, can communicate confidently with stakeholders and are excited by the opportunity to take on a broad role within a growing business.
You'll ideally bring:
2–5 years' experienceacross finance, finance operations, accounting, analysis, reconciliations, insurance operations or a similar environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders
A proactive, hands-on approach and genuine sense of ownership
The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
An interest in technology, AI, automation and process improvement
Insurance experience is not essential.We're open to candidates from a range of backgrounds who are dynamic, adaptable and eager to learn.
