Highfields & District Medical Centre is seeking an organised, proactive and people-focusedPractice Managerto oversee the day-to-day operations of ourbusy and growing medical practicein Highfields.
With the practice continuing to grow, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Manager or healthcare professional ready to take the next step into practice management.
We are looking for someone who can provide solid leadership, support our doctors and staff, and play an active role in the continued growth and development of the practice.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and will alsowork in conjunction with the Practice Manager at our sister clinic, Lindsay Street Medical.
The two Practice Managers will collaborate across areas such as staffing, systems, compliance and operational matters while remaining responsible for the day-to-day management of their respective practices.
About the Role
As Practice Manager, you will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of Highfields & District Medical Centre while helping to support the practice through its continued growth.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will work closely with our doctors, nursing and reception teams to maintain an organised, supportive and qualified practice environment.
As the practice grows, you will also play an important role in ensuring our staffing, systems, processes and patient services continue to develop to meet the changing needs of the practice and our local community.
You will work collaboratively with the Practice Manager at Lindsay Street Medical, sharing information and coordinating operational matters across the two practices where appropriate.
Key responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the day-to-day operations of Highfields & District Medical Centre
Leading, supporting and managing reception and administrative staff
Working collaboratively with the Practice Manager at Lindsay Street Medical
Supporting the continued growth and development of the practice
Ensuring systems, staffing and workflows evolve appropriately as the practice grows
Staff rostering, leave management and workforce planning




Recruitment, onboarding and training of staff
Managing staff performance and supporting ongoing professional development
Supporting doctors and clinical staff with operational requirements
Maintaining efficient patient workflows and high standards of patient service
Managing practice systems, policies and procedures
Monitoring Medicare, billing and administrative processes
Assisting with budgets, expenses and practice performance
Managing patient feedback and complaints professionally and appropriately
Supporting compliance with relevant healthcare legislation, policies and standards
Maintaining and supporting RACGP accreditation requirements
Identifying opportunities to improve practice efficiency, systems and patient experience
Liaising with external providers, suppliers and other healthcare organisations
Working collaboratively with senior management on operational and business initiatives
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable, organised and willing to take ownership of the role.
You will be someone who enjoys leading a team and is equally comfortable being hands-on when required.
With the practice continuing to grow, we are particularly interested in someone who can anticipate what needs to be done, identify opportunities for improvement and help implement systems and processes that support that growth.
General practice can be a fast-paced environment, so the ability to prioritise, problem-solve and remain professional under pressure is important.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience as a Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager or in a senior medical administration role
Experience working within general practice or another healthcare environment
Knowledge and experience using Best Practice clinical software
Strong leadership and people-management skills
Excellent organisational and time-management abilities




A good understanding of Medicare and medical billing
Knowledge of RACGP accreditation standards and general practice compliance requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage multiple priorities effectivelyConfidence in handling difficult conversations, patient concerns and staff performance matters
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with other managers and senior management
Initiative and the ability to identify and implement improvements within the practice
The ability to support and manage change within a growing healthcare environment
A strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and patient-centred care
Previous experience and a sound working knowledge of Best Practice software is required for this position.Experience withHotDocwould also be highly regarded.
