About the role

Newcastle Formwork Services is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Formwork Carpenter to lead a small crew across commercial formwork projects in Newcastle and the Hunter.

This is a hands-on position. You will work alongside the crew while taking responsibility for set-out, daily planning, productivity, quality and coordination of the formwork scope.

The successful applicant must be capable of taking ownership of the work and keeping a small crew organised and productive without requiring constant supervision.

Key responsibilities
Lead and work alongside a small formwork crew
Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
Complete accurate set-out and dimensional checks
Plan daily activities and allocate work to the crew
Coordinate labour, materials, plant and equipment
Monitor productivity and maintain the construction programme
Maintain high standards of workmanship and safety
Identify and resolve issues before they affect progress




Coordinate professionally with site management and other trades

Experience required

Applicants must have solid experience in conventional commercial formwork, including:
Suspended decks and balconies
Concrete walls
Stairs and landings
Edge forms, rebates and penetrations
Formwork systems, propping and stripping
Reading drawings and completing set-out

Requirements
Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification
Proven formwork leading-hand experience
Construction White Card
Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
Solid communication and organisational skills
Ability to lead by example and remain productive on the tools
Reliable, safety-conscious and committed to quality work
