About the role
This position involves supporting a young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through community participation, independent living and capacity-building activities that promote confidence, routine and everyday life skills.
Key responsibilities
Providing transport to and from the local supermarket for the participant and his two small, friendly dogs
Encouraging independence while the participant completes their grocery shopping
Assisting with unpacking groceries and organising the kitchen
Preparing meals and portioning food into containers for the week
Light cleaning the kitchen, cooking equipment and work areas following meal preparation
Supporting a clean, secure and organised home environment
Building positive rapport while encouraging independence and community participation
Completing professional session notes following each shift
About you
Passionate about supporting young people to build confidence and independence
Experience supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or a solid understanding of autism-informed support practices
Patient, reliable and professional
Enjoys community participation and practical daily living supports
Can work independently and take initiative
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Values consistency and building long-term relationships with participants
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current National Police Check
Current Australian Driver Licence
Reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
Unrestricted working rights in Australia
Comfortable around dogs
